The purpose of this study was to Investigate the teaching methods and learning approaches specifically related to L2 (second language) listening in grade 10 in Oman. Identify and analyze the discourses prevalent among various stakeholders (teachers, curriculum designers, supervisors, and students) regarding the challenges and deficiencies in L2 listening instruction. Assess the alignment and discrepancies between the grade 10 English Language Curriculum, the textbooks used, and the actual teaching practices employed. This research adopted Research Design (Qualitative approach). The results indicated that: • Quantity of Listening Tasks and Activities: Participants had varying perspectives on the amount of listening tasks in the grade 10 curriculum. Some believed there were enough tasks, while others advocated for increased emphasis on listening skills. Teachers highlighted challenges due to the curriculum's disorganization, demanding nature, and lack of focus on specific skills. • Listening Materials: Views on the suitability of listening materials differed among participants. Some praised the materials for meeting students' levels and needs, while others criticized them for being too easy, irrelevant to exams, or repetitive in topics. Students expressed dissatisfaction with repeated topics and difficulties due to unclear audio or noise in the listening materials. In light of these research findings longitudinal research is recommended to Draw more attention to the listening skill for its substantial role in language learning through having more listening lessons. Improve authenticity of the listening texts and tasks to match students’ real-life situations and enhance their communicative skills. Vary topics and types of listening texts and tasks to be up-to-date to attract students’ attention and encourage them to listen. Concentrate on enhancing students’ listening strategies and skills. Give more space for teachers to adjust the syllabus, the lessons and materials to suit students’ needs and abilities. Align listening tasks and types with the types of assessment to ensure attaining the intended learning outcomes. Consider teachers and students’ opinions and involve them in the process of curriculum development.
